Save on Gas Tips and Tricks

We've collected data on fuel efficiency and has come up with these "common sense" tips to... Save on Gas!

1) Keep it steady. Excessive acceleration and speeding can lower your gas mileage by up to 33%! It helps to use your cruise control and your cars overdrive whenever possible!

2) Keep the weight down. Figure about a wasted 2% efficiency for every 100 lbs. you add to your vehicle.

3) Replace your air filter. Replacing a dirty air filter can improve engine performance by up to 10%.

4) Keep your tires properly inflated. Under-inflated tires can lower gas mileage by 0.3 percent for every 1 psi drop in pressure of all four tires.

5)Use the right motor oil. Using the manufacturer's recommended grade of motor oil can save you up to 2% on your mileage.

6) Avoid using excessive electrical accessories. Running air conditioning at "Max" can reduce fuel economy by up to 5-25%.

7) Keep your vehicle tuned up. New spark plugs & spark plug wires will improve your engine's performance (make sure you're using what the manufacturer recommends and the plugs are properly gapped). Also, look at having your fuel filter replaced every two years or every 24,000 miles.

>8) Save on your gas purchases by applying for a gas card. You can save up to 10% on your gas purchases by applying for a BP Visa® Rewards card. Also, save up to 4% on travel and dining and 2% on virtually all other purchases.
